aaronsmith41 Road Hockey is a wonderful song by an excellent songwriter. it evokes scenes of childhood, of a more innocent time. If the listener has ever had a similar experience to the one described in this song, it will bring back those memories as well. They don't have to be memories of hockey either. The song hits a universal nerve that anyone who competed with their friends on a summer day will understand. The lyrics are witty, and the music fits perfectly with the story they tell.

about

It was an early tune I wrote and finally got around to recording properly. It's all about the memories of playing hockey with my friends in the old neighbourhood. I hope it brings back memories for you as well!

lyrics

In the middle of the summer, in ninety five degree heat
We grabbed the nets, and put 'em in the street
We called the guys, and made up teams
It was so long ago, but like yesterday it seems

(Chorus)
We played, road hockey
And we were the stars
Play interrupted by a passing car
We'd move our nets, till they drove on by
"Game on!" and we did it one more time
We played, road hockey

(Vs2)
Ray and Danny, they lived next door
Ritchie was the big kid, cross the street and down one more
Robert was a good friend, right across the street
We met in the arena, that was the neighbourhood street

Chorus

(Bridge)
It's been a long time since I held a hockey stick
I lost my taste for the game, but I still remember it
I go back now and see what's left of it
There isn't much, just this and a little bit

(Chorus x2)
